Rippa Rugby

29 February 2016

Ruma Tahi, along with all the other classes have been really lucky to have Nobby come in to build on our rippa rugby skills over the last two weeks. We've learnt how to pass the ball while moving, move into spaces and how to work as a team. Ka pai Nobby. We hope you can come back again soon!

 . . . and this is how it's done . . .

A chance to use those new skills and tips.

The Fairest of Them All!

29 February 2016 - a date that only comes around every four years!!

Last week the show 'The Fairest of them All' by New Zealand Playhouse performers proved to be a big hit. The acting was incredibly realistic and the jokes were hilarious.
Furthermore they delivered the important message about 'switching off' from the virtual world of computers at times and making the most of real life. A show we could easily watch again and again.

Over the last week the class have been finding out a bit about each by conducting interviews. It is amazing the different skills and unique talents that each student has. Happy reading!

Friday Swimming

Friday 12 February

We had a lot of fun down at the town pool this afternoon and appreciated the extra coaching tips from some ex-Kaniere students who are unable to currently attend WHS. Thanks Jack, Mitchell, Grace, Laura, Ella and Preston!

Swimming

February 10 2016

It was great to head off to the pool last Friday to begin our swimming lessons for the term. Everyone appreciated the chance to cool off. We were lucky to have so many parents offer to help run the groups. Thank you! The class will back at the pool at 1.30 again this Friday (12th).

Learning New Skills

This afternoon the class was kept busy learning new skills on the chrome books. Everyone (including Mrs Phelps) now knows how to research in a smarter and more efficient way. You can see from the photos just how much brainwork was required!

Maths in Flight!

As part of our maths the class started designing catapults. It was exciting measuring the flight paths today! Tomorrow they will begin to organise their data into a graph.

Week 1 in Ruma Tahi

It has been a brilliant start in room one this year. We welcome our new Year 6 student Raihan and all the new students from room two. We've been busy getting to know the new routines and expectations. Come and in and see us anytime!
